Our Mission

Promises for Parkinson’s is dedicated to bringing hope to Parkinson’s disease (PD) patients. We support scientific research that aims for a cure and a better way of life for those living with the disease, and we actively carry out various public events to incite others to help make a difference.

We uphold our mission by holding fundraising events such as Hike the Park for Parkinson's, Move for Parkinson's and by establishing the Promises for Parkinson's Care Program. We hope to further our work by creating local support groups and working with the larger Parkinson's organizations to reach a common goal -- improving the lives of those living with this disease.

Some ask, why is Maryland's Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorder Center the primary beneficiary of funds raised by the hike? The answer is simple. Maryland's Center has the same goal we do -- create a better way of life for those living with Parkinson's disease. The dedicated team of neurologists and Parkinson's specialists strive to help Parkinson's patients live their lives to the fullest despite this debilitating disease.

The Promises for Parkinson's team will do what it takes to uphold our promise -- combat this disease and do it for the patients and their families. To do this, we will be evaluating our non-profit model and which research is best to support beginning December 31, 2017 and continuing until February 2018. We will update our website with new information and donation access in February of 2018. If you donated in 2017, all of those funds were given to the scientific research being conducted at University of Maryland School of Medicine's Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorder Center.
